FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Broadway to Dims Lights in Honor of Gerald Schoenfeld
November 25, 2008
(New York, NY - November 25, 2008) The members, staff, and board of The Broadway League note with sadness the passing of our friend and immediate past chairman Gerald Schoenfeld, the longtime Chairman of the Shubert Organization.
Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League, said, "Our hearts go out to the Schoenfeld family and to the Shubert family of employees. This legendary leader in the Broadway industry was also a champion of arts education and a tireless advocate for the improvement of New York City's Theatre District. Few others have had as profound impact on the history of the American theatre. We will miss him."
The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in his memory on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at exactly 7:00pm for one minute.
