(New York, July 12, 2006) For the third consecutive year, CBS 2’s Dana Tyler hosts “Broadway Under the Stars,” a musical celebration featuring the shining stars of Broadway that has become a New York tradition. The one-hour special airs on Saturday, July 15th at 7 PM with the best of Broadway performed by its legendary stars.

This year’s Broadway Under the Stars is a star-studded salute to the musicals of legendary director and producer Harold Prince, and was produced by NYC & Company and The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc.

On this star-studded night, Tyler offers viewers a first hand look at the brightest of Broadway. She joins fans at the concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn after making her “theatrical debut” as part of the opening number.

Viewers enjoy a night of entertainment with performances by Michael Arden, Carolee Carmello, Michael Cerveris, Kevin Clay, Christine Ebersole, Manoel Felciano, Sutton Foster, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Shuler Hensley, Brian d’Arcy James, Jane Krakowski, Rebecca Luker, Donna McKechnie, Matthew Morrison, Bebe Neuwirth, Anika Noni Rose, Kelli O’Hara, Elaine Stritch, Lee Ann Womack, and this year’s Tony Award-winning “Jersey Boys” (Tony Award-winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Dominic Nolfi, and J. Robert Spencer).

In the biggest surprise of the night, Liza Minnelli introduces Harold Prince who is honored for his many outstanding career accomplishments.

The concert showcases songs from the productions of Harold Prince, winner of the 2006 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. The recipient of 21 Tony Awards (including this year’s Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre) and a 1994 Kennedy Center Honoree, Mr. Prince directed the premiere productions of A Little Night Music, Cabaret, Company, Evita, Follies, Pacific Overtures, Parade, Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Operaand the acclaimed revivals of Candideand Show Boat. His productions include Damn Yankees, The Pajama Game, West Side Storyand Fiddler on the Roof.

Highlights of the concert include: “Buenos Aires” (Evita),Carolee Carmello & Company; “Too Many Mornings” (Follies),Michael Cerveris; “Not a Day Goes By” (Merrily We Roll Along,Christine Ebersole; “You’ve Got Possibilities” (It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s Superman), Sutton Foster & Company; “Don’t Tell Mama” (Cabaret), Jane Krakowski, “Cabaret” (Cabaret)Bebe Neuwirth, and “Why Do I Love You” (Showboat), Elaine Stritch .

This year, Broadway Under the Stars was directed by Tony-nominated director and choreographer Jeff Calhoun (Big River, Annie Get Your Gun, Grease!). Choreographer was Chase Brock (Shenandoah, Ford’s Theatre, Washington, D.C.). Music Director Phil Reno (The Drowsy Chaperone, The Producers) once again led the live orchestra.

The telecast was produced and directed by David Stern.
