KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAYSOUVENIR PLAYBILL: Written entirely by teens, this special educational keepsake takes a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Broadway shows and gives voice to young theatre fans. Generously provided by Theatre Development Fund, the Playbill is provided free of charge to all kids who attend the theatre on Kids' Night on Broadway, and is available for download at KidsNightonBroadway.com. It also contains extensive listings of theatre books, websites, and additional educational resources.
CAUSE-RELATED EFFORTS: The Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) is an industry-wide initiative that educates, motivates and inspires the theatre community and its patrons to adopt environmentally friendlier practices and reduce our carbon footprint. Working with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the BGA is deeply committed to being a leader in environmental stewardship across all areas of our industry to leave a cleaner, greener world for generations yet to come.
The KIDS ADVISORY BOARD is composed of thirty theatre-loving kids ages 11 to 16 from around the country. Research demonstrates that kids who attend Broadway shows are more likely to return to Broadway as adults, and to introduce theatre to their own children, so The Broadway League’s KIDS ADVISORY BOARD helps develop and implement kid-oriented programs, events and digital initiatives. The three main areas of focus are: creating a sense of community for kids interested in Broadway theatergoing; advising how to enhance Kids’ Night on Broadway, and recommending ways to make Broadway a better experience for young people.
ENHANCED EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS: The educational components to build new theatergoing audiences and inspire a life-long love for the arts will be a key focus of pre-theatre events, and are in cooperation with Thru the Stage Door.
KIDS’ NIGHT ON BROADWAY is generously presented by The New York Times and is officially sponsored by Madame Tussauds New York, NBC4, and Theatre Development Fund. Kids’ Night on Broadway’s educational provider is Thru the Stage Door. Kids’ Night on Broadway salutes the Broadway Green Alliance in helping to generate awareness for going green. Kids’ Night on Broadway welcomes Visa, the preferred card of The Broadway League.
