Broadway continues its 2009-2010 season momentum with over 20 more shows scheduled to open before spring, in addition to the 18 shows that have already opened this season – joining the 17 long-running shows currently playing on the boards.
The Broadway League announces three new Officers elected to its Board of Governors: Paul Libin as Chairman, Nick Scandalios as Vice Chairman, and Alecia Parker as Secretary/Treasurer. Results of elections for the new Board of Governors can be found at:
Paul Libin commented, “Immediate Past Chair Nina Lannan has achieved very important changes over the past two years. She has redefined the League’s relationships with the unions and guilds, audiences, and government officials to ensure the continued growth and economic success of Broadway and Touring Broadway productions around the country; and has encouraged and expanded membership participation. I hope to continue her progress, in addition to bringing new innovative talent to our industry to keep it healthy. I am very excited about our members’ plans for the future and their new ideas.”
The Broadway League (formerly The League of American Theatres and Producers) now includes theatre owners, producers, presenters from around the country, press agents, general managers, booking agents, advertising agencies, and industry specialists who represent the various shops that construct scenery, costumes and props.

Paul Libin has been on the Board of Governors at The Broadway League since 1976. He is currently Vice President and Producing Director of Jujamcyn Theatres, which he joined in 1990. He began his professional career in the theatre as an actor. Since then, he has worked as a director, lighting designer, technical director, stage manager, managing director, general manager and company manager. He produced his first play in New York in 1958 and, to date, more than 200 productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and on tour. The recipient of many awards, including seven Tony Awards®, Mr. Libin also serves as a member of the Tony Award Management Committee. He served as President of the League of Off-Broadway Theatres for thirty years, and is currently President of both the Circle in the Square Theatre and its School; following his role as producing Director of Circle in the Square Theatre for twenty-seven years. He is currently president of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a trustee of The Actors’ Fund, Actors’ Equity Pension Fund, Treasurers’ Pension Fund, and Adjunct Professor of Theatre Arts at Columbia University and Vice President and Producing Director and part owner of Jujamcyn Theaters. In 2003 he was awarded the Eugene O’Neill Medallion and in 2004 he received the Eugene O’Neill Foundation Tao House Award.
Nick Scandalios is the Executive Vice President of the Nederlander Organization, one of the largest owners of legitimate theatres in the world, as well as one of the largest theatrical producing organizations in North America. He serves on the Executive Committee of The Broadway League and on the Board of Trustees for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year marks his 23rd anniversary with the Nederlander Organization. Nederlander owns or operates theatres in New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL; San Diego, CA; San Jose, CA; Riverside, CA; Tucson, AZ; North Charleston, SC; Durham, NC and London, England. The Nederlander Organization is currently represented on Broadway by the following productions: Rock of Ages, Wicked, Disney’s The Lion King, West Side Story and In the Heights. Upcoming productions include: The Addams Family, Come Fly Away and Million Dollar Quartet.
Alecia Parker has been on the Board of Governors at The Broadway League since 2006. She has been associated with Barry and Fran Weissler for the past 30 years in numerous capacities including producer and general manager for Zorba; general manager for Othello, Medea, Your Arm's Too Short to Box with God, Macbeth, My One and Only, Gypsy, and Bye Bye Birdie; associate producer for Cabaret, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Falsettos, Grease!, Annie Get Your Gun, Seussical and executive producer for Wonderful Town, Sweet Charity, the West End premiere of Fat Pig and Chicago, the longest running musical revival on Broadway and the West End which has played in over 20 countries around the world, translated into 11 languages and become one of the most successful touring productions in history. In 2009, Alecia was honored with the Broadway League’s Touring Award for Distinguished Lifetime Service. She is currently serving as executive producer for the international productions of Rock of Ages, the Toronto and Broadway premieres of the wildly popular Australian musical, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and for this spring’s Broadway transfer of the critically acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory production of La Cage aux Folles.
